Starting Officially on Friday with Welcome Ceremony and Party, continuing all weekend with dance and music workshops, performances plus an optional island tour Monday..
Journey through the history and roots of Cuban Culture, Dance and Music in the tropics of North Queensland!
We are extra excited to share our NEW Afrekete Island Edition in 2024, which sneak starts on Thursday at the Heritage Exchange, then on Friday with our Official Welcome Ceremony and Party, and continues over the weekend of Afro-Cuban song, dance & rhythm workshops as well as social night to live Cuban band & DJ, PLUS an optional island tour around the beautiful island post-event Monday.
The whole main event will take place in one place – Amaroo on Mandalay in Nelly Bay.
