The main Afrekete event occurs over three days with dance and drum workshops, professional performances, school engagement and community demonstrations for cross-cultural exchange, to enhance the living experience and artistic expertise of Townsville’s diverse community.
Our NEW Community Rhythm & Roots Showcase involves intercultural exchange to culminate our festival. With community education and participation via dance & drum interactive sessions, and performative demonstrations by our local as well as invited artists alongside community members in cultural Drumming, Song & Dance. There will also be Artisan and Community information stalls and Cuban Food available.
